A TAKE ON THE WORLD 1970s - Photography Bob Bentley

BOB BENTLEY

In the ten years between graduating from the Royal College of Art Film School and becoming a BAFTA-winning director for film and television, Bob Bentley travelled the world. Much of that journey happened while he was on location as a sound technician. Whenever opportunities arose, he took photographs - often of obscure communities, people, and landscapes in places usually closed to other travellers. He was drawn to both the extraordinary and the everyday. The resulting cache of slides, which lay undiscovered in boxes and folders for decades, is now seeing the light of day for the first time in half a century. The photographs selected for this book, together with Bob Bentley’s very personal accompanying text, reveal a rare view of the world as he saw it in the 1970s - authentic documentary photography at its finest. Locations featured:

Papua New Guinea · Hong Kong · India · Morocco · Jamaica · Egypt · Mediterranean islands · Nigeria · Portugal · Iceland
